Description
The Department of Family & Community Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center is inviting applications for a medical family therapy pre-doctoral internship. The Department houses a Family Medicine residency program, and includes more than 30 faculty and 42 resident physicians. Our mission is to provide excellent primary care to individuals and families; to train culturally competent physicians to serve underserved populations throughout North Texas; and to conduct clinical, health services, and community-based participatory research that positively impacts patient outcomes.
This doctoral internship is 40% clinical, including active participation in integrated behavioral health care and resident education via shared patients, and includes weekly clinical supervision with an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. The internship is also 60% research, including support in completing the intern’s own research activities, and collaborating with Family Medicine faculty and residents on departmental research projects. Interns will also accrue teaching experience by providing didactic lectures for residents and medical students, and participating in wellness activities to include regular resident support groups and Balint sessions.
